We are recruiting peers to champion mental health and wellbeing for young people in our communities. A small group will work with the Wellbeing and Inclusion Manager to develop resources and deliver sessions on mental health to help meet our objective of ensuring that our communities are aware of how to support the mental health needs of young members.
You will need experience of creating, developing and delivering informal educational sessions ideally either within a synagogue or to a youth group. The successful candidate must have an understanding of teenagers and their preferred learning styles.
With your knowledge of safeguarding procedures, an awareness of your own mental health and self-care needs, you must be able to work both independently and part of a team. The successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and also on social media.
There will be an initial development day in London, approximately 4 meetings per year plus session preparation time. We aim for each Advocate/Champion to deliver 4 sessions a year. You will be able to work flexibly from home (for preparation work) but required to travel to local communities for delivery of the sessions which are likely to take place evenings and weekends.
Applications from people with lived-experience of mental health problems will be particularly welcomed.
