Theresa May opens Maidenhead walkway

Theresa May with Rabbi Dr Jonathan Romain of Maidenhead SynagoguePrime Minister and local MP Theresa May visited Maidenhead Synagogue to open a major new development. The shul’s walkway through Jewish history is a 45 metre stretch of paving, which has carved into it the different stages of Jewish history on successive paving stones, starting with the Patriarchs and Matriarchs and having other key moments over the next 4,000 years including Mount Sinai, Babylon, the Maccabees, the Talmud and the presence of Jews in England.

Rabbi Dr Jonathan Romain said: “It is both a decorative addition and an educational tool, as it will form part of school RE lessons and general talks with school-children and other visitors literally walking along the paving stones travelling from 1800 BCE to today”.
