Sowing seeds at Sinai
“That was fun!” “I want to do it at home, too!” “I can’t wait to see what’s happened by next week” were some of the comments made by children at Sinai Synagogue Leeds’ Religion school when member and expert gardener Roy Adams came in to demonstrate seed sowing and to do it with them. Roy, a keen gardener for many years, was delighted to be asked to share his knowledge.
Director of Education Gwynneth Lewis said: “We’re so lucky to have Roy and other members who are so willing to come and pass on their skills to our children. This year, the planting was part of Sinai’s shmitta programme and emphasis on sustainability. Judging by the children’s reactions, I think this will be one of many occasions we will ask Roy to come in.”
