Southend celebrates 70 years

Southend and District Reform Synagogue will be celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.

For some years the shul has had a memorial board that has been used to commemorate the deaths of members. Unfortunately, over time the board has started to show its age and the shul’s Synagogue Council commissioned a replacement board.

The beautiful new board is in memory of the late Ena Kosky who left the money for this in her will, and will be dedicated on 11 September.

It is hoped to contact the families of those on the former board, and they are asked to contact admin@southendreform.org.uk or phone 01702 711663 so the shul can invite these families to attend the dedication service.

In addition to the replacement board, there is a ‘Tree of Life’ at the shul where new names can be commemorated on a plaque in the shape of a stone to rest under the ‘tree’.
