South West Essex & Settlement Reform Synagogue Inauguration Service

The Torah Ceremony and Service of Inauguration, led by Rabbi Henry Goldstein, one of SWESRS’ Rabbi Emeriti

On Sunday 15th May, South West Essex & Settlement Reform Synagogue (SWESRS) held the Inauguration Service for their newly appointed Senior Rabbi, Jordan Helfman. The inspiring service was led by newly qualified Rabbi Lev Taylor, who will be joining SWESRS officially as their second rabbi from July.

SWESRS Chair, Michael Dalton, welcomed over 100 invitees and congregants both in person and on Zoom.  The Torah Ceremony and Service of Inauguration was led by Rabbi Henry Goldstein, one of SWESRS’ Rabbi Emeriti.

Rabbi Dr Deborah Kahn-Harris, Principal of Leo Baeck College, gave a heartfelt address. The Congregational Prayer was led by Sue Jackson, Vice-Chair of SWESRS. This was followed by video messages from past Rabbis of The Settlement, SWERS and SWESRS!

A special musical blessing had been commissioned by Cantor David Rosen of Holy Blossom Temple, Toronto – this was Rabbi Jordan`s previous congregation. Y’chad’shehu was composed by Rose Snitz, and performed by Daniel Sofaer

The SWESRS Choir completed the joyous occasion as they interwove various songs and psalms in to the service.
