Shirei Chagigah 2017
This Shabbat we celebrate Shabbat Shira (the Sabbath of singing) where we celebrate Moses and Miriam leading the Israelites across the Red Sea and out of Egypt. What could possibly be a better time to launch our very own extended Shabbat of singing: Shirei Chagigah!
This year Shirei Chagigah – meaning ‘songs of celebration’ – will take place from Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 July at Radlett Reform Synagogue.
Shirei Chagigah is absolutely about singing, about being together, creating community and learning new melodies but that’s not all. Shirei Chagigah is an opportunity to relax, enjoy, be spiritually uplifted, learn how to compose, study the history and development of music in our services and further develop as the service leader or choir leader you’ve always wanted to be. For a flavour of the huge variety of sessions take a look at the programme from 2015 here.
Shirei Chagigah blends the traditional and the new, whether you want to incorporate nusach or drumming, new melodies or old standards into your services this is where you will find like-minded individuals and teachers to support you.
We are delighted to be joined by four fantastically talented musicians and educators as well as our very own Cantor Zöe Jacobs. After a superb reception at Shirei Chagigah in 2015 and at Limmud and RSY-Netzer winter events this year we are excited to announce our first member of the team: Noah Aronson!. For more about Noah visit his website and YouTube channel. Keep your eyes peeled as we reveal the faculty one by one over the coming weeks.
