Sha’arei Tsedek welcomes neighbours for Chanukah

Sha'arei Tsedek welcomes neighbours for ChanukahOn Sunday 13 December over 250 members and friends of Sha’arei Tsedek, North London Reform Synagogue came together to celebrate Chanukah. Joining the festivities was Deputy Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Alison Corneliu and Revd Dr Gregory Platten, vicar of All Saint’s Friern Barnet.

Councillor Cornelius said: “What a special and poignant afternoon of celebration. It was lovely to see so many people, both young and old, come together to enjoy this beautiful festival.
“Thank you for allowing me to be part of the community chanukiyah lighting”.

Speaking at the event, Rabbi James Baaden said: “Chanukah is all about visibility;creating more and more light, day after day, plus carrying out a very public act of rededication. It’s a time for celebrating the freedom to openly express our values.

“At Sha’arei Tsedek we pride ourselves on being visible, ‘out there’ in the community working alongside our neighbours and other community groups, identifiable as a Jewish community institution.

“We hope our guests have found us a welcoming and open community and that the event has given them a true sense of what our community has to offer”.
