Reform Rabbi Sets Sights on Great British Bake Off

Reform Judaism is thrilled to confirm what many suspected- one of our own Rabbis will be appearing in the next series of the Great British Bake Off.

Rabbi Esther Hamalka of the Shushan and District Reform Congregation will be entering the competition after discovering a real zest for baking during lockdown.

Normally accustomed to having congregants rise for the Amidah, Rabbi Esther will now be hoping to get a rise out of her cakes.

She’ll be taking a whisk adapting prayer book favourites into delicious recipes, including Adough Olam and BirCake Hamazon.

Whether it’s in the kitchen or outdoor socially distanced services, Rabbi Esther has become adept at avoiding a soggy bottom.

We can’t think of a batter Rabbi to take on the challenge.

Happy Purim from Reform Judaism!
