Rabbinic Ordination Ceremony – 3 July 2022

More than 150 people attended the Ordination Service in person – the first time in three years a congregation had been possible at an LBC Ordination service – with a further 100 watching live on Zoom.
The service was led by Rabbis Alexandra Wright, Debbie Young-Somers, Colin Eimer and Charles Middleburgh, with the music led by Cantor Tamara Wolfson.
In his address Rabbi Lev Taylor, who joins South West & Essex Reform Synagogue said, “”I became a Rabbi so that others might grow up with a God, and a community, and a religion that loved them. Hoping that if they did, perhaps they wouldn’t destroy themselves.” You can read the full transcript here.
By contrast Rabbi David spoke of the importance of chesed, and the impact of this on his own life, concluding – “As I step out of the Beit Midrash and into the Beit Knesset it is my hope that I will continue the legacy of my peers and family through continuing to practise a Judaism that is firmly rooted in chesed – reaching out and making meaningful connections with others.” You can read the full transcript here.
We wish Mazel Tov to everyone, and a very special welcome to Rabbi David-Yehuda Stern and Rabbi Lev Taylor.
