Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner and Muddassar Ahmed on the Casey Review

This letter was published in The Times on Wednesday 7 December 2016.

Sir, The Casey review’s description of social disintegration in Britain is worrying. However, we are concerned that the review’s recommendations focus disproportionately on Muslims. We recognise the existence of enclaves in both Muslim and Jewish communities, but the review also highlights corrosive challenges in white working-class enclaves. If, as the review suggests, white working-class communities are more segregated and socially isolated than others, we need an audacious realignment of government priorities that will tackle the north/south economic divide. We must ensure that Britain is united, cohesive and stable.
