Progressive Jewish Students is a joint initiative between Reform Judaism and Liberal Judaism, unifying our values for Jewish expression rooted in inclusive, egalitarian communities that value difference and seek a just society for all.

About the Job

This is a fabulous opportunity to work with progressively minded students (aged 16 – 22). Travelling to campuses across the country, you will liaise via support groups e.g. JSoc and Egal, developing one-to-one relationships with individuals; providing educational sessions selecting a few to become student leaders.

You will be working closely with progressive young adults and Reform and Liberal synagogues to facilitate connections as well as their respective youth movements to promote and support the transition of graduates from youth movement to university and beyond. Building excellent relationships, you will develop and nurture these students to become leaders within their peer networks and within wider Reform and Liberal communities.

Using your excellent interpersonal skills you will recruit and train students to lead on programming on campus with their peers.

About You

You will:-

Be experienced at motivating and empowering young people as well as leading progressive educational programmes and services.

Be able to empathise and support students in challenging situations and be able to react to campus changes quickly.

Be confident at building relationships and working in partnership with others resulting in vibrant networks of young people engaged with progressive Judaism.

Need to have a sound knowledge of Reform or Liberal Judaism, student affairs, Israel, Jewish life, texts and history.

Be competent using all forms of social media and MS Offices packages

You must be prepared to travel and to work regular evenings and weekends.

This is an ideal opportunity to gain new skills and valuable experience. As we recognise the importance of developing skills for the future, a tailored skills training package will be made available after 12 months service.

In addition, we will offer flexible working, pension, 21 days holiday (rising to 26 days), bank and public holiday plus holidays as observed by Reform Judaism.
