The government plans to change the organ donation system in England to an ‘opt-out’ system. Under that system, unless a person states a wish not to be a donor (opts out), their consent to donation will be deemed to have been given. They want to find out what people think of how the changes should be made. Whatever your views on organ donation, now is the time to share them.
Reform Judaism and organ donation
Reform Judaism and the Assembly of Rabbis and Cantors are fully in support of organ donation. It is a good thing; a generous thing and a mitzvah. To find out more about how you can register as a donor, visit the NHS organ donation website.
Rabbi Sylvia Rothschild writes on the wider question of organ donation in the Jewish News.
