Muslim and Jewish communities join together in Harlow for Holocaust Memorial Day
The annual Holocaust Memorial Day service hosted by the Harlow Jewish Community was attended by people of many faiths, including a number of Muslims, one of whom recited the Muslim prayer for peace.
Razed Roof, an inclusive theatre company based in Harlow, gave two moving performances to keep alive the memory of two Holocaust survivors and Austrian-born survivor Rose Gotley, who belongs to the Harlow Jewish Community, read a section from her memoirs about the Nazi invasion of her home town when she was a little girl.
Rabbi Irit Shillor said: “The service is an opportunity for us to remember the survivors and to bring faiths together in our town so that we can pledge to work for a better future for us all.”
