Judaism through Cooking at Sinai
Sinai Synagogue Leeds’ latest venture, ‘Judaism through Cooking’, set off to a delicious start with Carey Glass demonstrating how to cook blintzes and Director of Education Gwynneth Lewis teaching about Shavuot. “It was great fun”, commented supercook Carey.
Participant and Sinai member Petra Mullen, who will be leading the challah making session on Sunday, 7th June, said: “It was fabulous to make something new with a lovely collection of people. Carey’s cooking and Gwynneth’s information complemented each other perfectly. Education in the most delicious way!”
Gwynneth added: “I’m absolutely delighted by the response to this first Judaism through Cooking session – not only did everyone have a great time, but the blintzes were described as the best in town! Anyone who would like to join us for future sessions will be welcome, though booking is essential, to ensure we have enough ingredients for everyone. For more information and to book please contact me by emailingeducation@sinaisynagogue.org.uk or by phoning 0113 2665256 and leaving a message for me”.
“As a non-member I was made extremely welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed the session” said Gabrielle Hurwitz, while Suzy Beck added: “This type of Jewish learning experience has been long overdue! What can be bad about combining food and education?”
