Introducing our Shirei meets Chagigah guest teachers from overseas

Cantor Ellen Dreskin

We are delighted that we will be joined by two wonderful teachers from overseas for the Movement For Reform Judaism’s flagship event of 2024 – Shirei meets Chagigah.

The all singing, all learning weekend away takes place at a gorgeous hotel and conference centre in Daventry from 14 or 15 to 17 March 2024. You can book your tickets here.

Our first guest teacher is Cantor Ellen Dreskin – a communal prayer leader, educator, spiritual director, and mentor in the areas of liturgy, worship, and spiritual practice.

She educates toward a deeper understanding of prayers (both traditional and contemporary), and the act of prayer itself as a doorway into spiritual practice and transforming oneself in order to transform the world.

Cantor Ellen has served as a scholar-in-residence at dozens of congregations, and as an educator and prayer/ritual leader at numerous Institutes, Camps, and Conferences, including the Institute for Jewish Spirituality and Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion. She teaches online and is a regular co-host of Eliana Light’s LightLab Podcast, taking deep dives into individual prayers and prayer-related topics.

Our second guest teacher is Cantor Leigh Korn, of Temple Isaiah in Lafayette, California.

He conducted the Delegates’ Choir at several URJ Biennial Conventions in the US and co-led Biennial Shabbat services in 2015. In 2010, Cantor Leigh was one of 20 cantors invited to sing the first concert of Jewish music at the Vatican. He also serves on the board of the American Conference of Cantors.
