Induction of Judith Chapman as Lord Mayor of Leeds

Induction of Judith Chapman as Lord Mayor of LeedsSinai Synagogue Leeds member and Liberal Democrat Councillor Judith Chapman was recently inducted as the new Lord Mayor of Leeds, with her husband Alan as her consort. In her inaugural speech, Judith said that she had had three major honours in her life: head girl at Allerton High School, chair at Sinai Synagogue Leeds and now Lord Mayor of Leeds.

Councillor and Mr Chapman are very much looking forward to representing Leeds and meeting many Leeds citizens and communities during their mayoral year. Reflecting her interest in mental health and adult social care issues, especially in regard to helping people with learning difficulties, Judith has chosen the Specialist Autism Services – Sacar as the Lord Mayor’s Charity.

Sinai’s Chair, Elsje Prins, said: “I am delighted that Judith has been chosen as Leeds’ Lord Mayor. Attending the reception, inauguration as dinner as Judith’s friend was an honour, as was seeing our Senior Rabbi, Ian Morris, perform his first duty as her chaplain.”
