Going Green in Hatch End: Kol Chai launches refurbished building

Kol Chai – The Hatch End Reform Jewish Community has reopened its building with a celebratory weekend of events.   After 18 months of enforced closure, the Synagogue now has solar panels, low energy lighting, improved broadband and media facilities, an extended and refitted kitchen and a refurbished sanctuary.

The celebrations began with a Family Fun Day, followed by a Friday night service -when Rabbi Naomi Goldman rededicated the building – a Shabbat morning choral service and a Cheese and Wine Tasting evening.  A “Victory Tea Party” on Sunday afternoon marked the easing of Lockdown restrictions.  All were achieved with Covid safety in mind.

Said Synagogue Co-Chair Nicky Bard:

“It’s been a joy to see members flock into the building once again. And the environmental improvements represent our commitment to the next generation.  We’re excited to attract more members and showcase what makes us so special as a community.”
