Food bank collection from Sinai Synagogue’s Religion School
Sinai Synagogue Leeds’ Religion School pupils have decided on a special shmita project (you can find out more about shmita, the sabbatical year of rest and release here) and they are co-ordinating Sinai’s collection for the North Leeds Food Bank.
“I’m so delighted by the enthusiasm of the children and the response of the community,” said Gwynneth Lewis, Sinai’s Director of Education. “Several of the children, as well as other members of the congregation, are already in the habit of bringing a donation for the food bank every time they come to Sinai. They’re really practising tikkun olam– healing the world.”
Donations for the food bank can be brought to Sinai whenever the synagogue is open. Any tinned or dry goods will be gratefully received. Pictured are some of Sinai’s Religion School pupils with Director of Education Gwynneth Lewis and some of the donated items.
