Climate Justice Sukkah in Trafalgar Square, 7.30 – 8.30pm

Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner, Senior Rabbi of Reform Judaism, will be leading us in a Havdalah ritual under the stars.

Havdalah marks the end of shabbat, a time to move on from the sabbath and re-enter the work and the week ahead. Mid-way through the International Rebellion, everyone is invited to gather by our Climate Justice Sukkah, beneath the stars, for a havdalah ceremony with song, blessings and togetherness.

Following the havdalah ritual, the band Klezjammers will perform. From soulful and lyrical, to energetic and boisterous, this music which originates from Eastern European Jewish bands is expressive and uplifting. Get ready to dance!

This event is organised by Extinction Rebellion Jews – Jews coming together to participate in the most urgent act of tikkun olam (repairing the world) that has ever been required of us.
Lo alecha hamlacha ligmor, v’lo atah ben chorin l’hivatel mimena / It’s not up to you to complete the work, but you are not free to abandon it.
Because with mass extinction already unfolding and threatening humankind itself, never has it been more truly spoken: if not now, when?
