13 May – Tourism & Israel
Are British Jews worried about security on our holidays? Should we be? What will it be like to go there this summer?

Israel at 70 is a programme of activities hosted by Sha’arei Tsedek which aims to engage British Jews with contemporary Zionism and modern-day Israel.

Following events to celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut 2018 and Israel’s seventieth birthday, Sha’arei Tsedek will be hosting a series of monthly seminars, on Sunday evenings, at our premises in N20. The seminars will be open to members, friends of the synagogue and invited guests and will be orientated towards adults of all ages. The aim will be to find common ground on which to help build the community and engage participants with Israel.

Each seminar will focus on a topic concerning Jews in the UK and their relationship with Israel. Through open discussion with other participants and presentations from invited speakers, the programme will explore contemporary issues affecting both Israeli and British Jewish society, and the relationship between the two.

Participants will be invited to share their own experiences and views, and discuss their position. Discussions will be moderated and participants will be asked to place emphasis on suggesting positive ideas and constructive, informed dialogue to find common ground. The programme will aim to create a safe, a-political space where all views and positions on modern Israel will be respected and welcomed.

Conclusions, findings and suggestions from participants will be recorded by moderators and collated in a summary publication.
