Alyth (North Western Reform Synagogue) was delighted to welcome Orlando Fraser, Chair of the Charity Commission, to learn about the work of synagogues in the UK.

The visit was arranged by the Board of Deputies of British Jews and included seeing Alyth’s building project and meeting members of the professional team and lay leadership.

Noeleen Cohen, former chair of trustees, who is leading the Alyth building project said, “We appreciated the Board of Deputies creating this opportunity for us to speak with the Chair of the Charity Commission today, and to share the breadth of our work that ensures that Alyth meets the statutory requirements of a large charity, and continues to be a welcoming, inclusive community for our diverse membership and all those who come through our doors.”

Board Chief Executive Michael Wegier said, “I was delighted to help facilitate the visit to Alyth. It was so moving to hear of all the amazing work that the community is doing in this critical time.”
