JJBS welcomes two new members in its 50th year

The Jewish Joint Burial Society (JJBS), which provides funeral arrangements for Reform, Masorti, Liberal and independent synagogues now has 39 members, as Peterborough Liberal Jewish Community and Edgware & Hendon Reform Synagogue join the Society. As a result of the merger of Hendon Reform Synagogue and Edgware & District Reform Synagogue to form Edgware & Hendon Reform Synagogue, JJBS now provides funeral benefits to former Hendon Reform Synagogue members. SWESRS hosts local schools for Holocaust education

As part of their commitment to Holocaust education, over a two-day period South West Essex & Settlement Reform Synagogue (SWESRS) were hosts to over 200 pupils from local schools with presentations from Holocaust survivors and Rabbis from Progressive Synagogues in Redbridge and Essex as Brenda Soskin explains. The survivors included Rabbi Harry Jacobi, born in Berlin in 1925, who came to Great Britain from the Netherlands following a double escape from the Nazis in 1939 and then 1940.
