Over 100 attend ‘superb’ teacher training day
Over 100 teachers, assisstants and tutors came together for our annual Southern teacher training day organised by Reform Judaism’s Community Educator Rabbi Debbie Young-Somers and Liberal Judaism’s Rabbi Sandra Kviat.
Sessions covered diverse subjects including engaging with Hebrew for those with special educational needs, Pesach, safeguarding, and what the next ten years of Jewish education might bring us. Participants described sessions as ‘superb’ and ‘comprehensive’ and really appreciated the practical tools. Our Northern teacher training will run on 19 February, and next year’s inset day is already in the planning for 7 January 2018.
Rabbi Debbie Young-Somers said: “It was heartening to see teachers and assistants taking time out to invest in themselves when they already give up so much of their weekends for the future of our young people. This is an essential provision for the development of our communities; there was a great buzz and I hope next year’s event will be an even bigger day of learning”.
