Jack Petchey Awards

Jack Petchey AwardsThe Reform Movement is fortunate in being able to offer the remarkable Jack Petchey Youth Achievement Award (JPA) scheme. This award is based on the individual achievements of a young person; being part of this scheme means we will be able to recognise and celebrate the contribution and efforts of our younger members and benefit the synagogue, youth provision or other worthy community youth causes. The Award ensures that they remain an example to encourage and nourish others.

״ כל שמעשיו מרובים מחכמתו למה הוא דומה?... לעץ שתול על מים ויובל ישלח שרשיו... ״

"One who’s deeds exceed their wisdom, to what may they be compared? … A tree planted by waters, that sends out its roots by a stream…" (Pirkei Avot , 3:22)

Perhaps your young people have shown serious dedication as a chanich/a (participant) or as a madrich/a (leader) by turning up without fail each week, or demonstrated a commitment to social action, Zionism, an environmental issue or other values of Reform Judaism; perhaps they have helped a fellow classmate in some special way, or they have overcome a particular personal issue with effort and integrity.

What’s on offer?

As a synagogue you can select ONE young person aged 11 - 25 to receive an Achievement Award every month (Gold scheme) twice a quarter (Silver scheme) and once a quarter (Bronze scheme). The Reform Movement JPA coordinators will set the scheme level for each synagogue in conjunction with the JPA. The scheme level is based on the numbers of young people in your synagogue.

The winner receives a certificate and £300 (payable to the synagogue) to be spent on a synagogue, club or community based project or ‘wish list’ item of the recipient’s choice.
