Any posts in the Forums are posted by individuals acting in their own right and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Movement for Reform Judaism.

By using the forum, individual posters agree not to post any defamatory or libellous posts and to accept full responsibility for the items they post.

  1. Reform Judaism Topics Only. The forums have been set up to discuss Reform Judaism and for Reform Jews to chat with each other. While we give a wide leanency to let people debate and chat we reserve the right to lock or remove unsuitable threads and posts.
  2. No proselytizing. Users attempting to subvert the forums by actively proselytizing a different faith will be banned.
  3. Please speak from personal experience only. Do NOT assume that you know how someone else feels/thinks/acts/etc.
  4. No excessive vulgar language or profanity - we allow certain deviations at times. Use common sense and best judgement. Judgement calls are made by Site Moderators in the context of that thread. We don't want to rain on anybody's parade, but realise we do have young people on the board and it's our unwritten duty as adults to try and set a good example for them.
  5. No threatening, abusive or harassing comments. Be kind to others. Please don't forget that you are talking to living feeling human beings on these boards. The internet can be dehumanizing and you may be tempted to say things on the board that you would never say to someone's face.
  6. No slanderous or libelous posts - knowingly making false claims about a company, organization or an individual are prohibited.
  7. While we encourage lively debate, we will not tolerate personal attacks. Any person attacking another visitor will receive a warning and possibly have their message removed. Any future incident thereafter, will be escalated in a fashion the moderators deem appropriate. Harassing, offensive, vulgar, abusive, hateful or bashing communications - including those aimed at gender, race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation or disability will absolutely not be tolerated.
  8. Do not engage in "flame-wars" or excessive exchange of confrontational postings. Debate is important, but users should not try to "pick a digital fight."
  9. No advertising or product marketing - no commercial ads allowed. An advertisement is categorized as an outright attempt to solicit business. Any such posts will be removed.
  10. No requests for money for non-registered charities. We do allow postings from people who are fundraising for registered charities (e.g. sponsored swim for Reform Synagogues of Great Britain - Reg. Charity No. 250060) but if we feel there's something not quite right for any reason we'll remove the post. As these types of posts involve money and peoples emotions, our decisions are final and not up for debate!
  11. Linking - links to personal or business web pages are permitted as long as the message is not a direct advertisement (reciprocal links will be enforced when possible). The posting of copyrighted, trademarked, or otherwise protected material is strictly prohibited.
  12. No spamming - do not post the same message repeatedly. Duplicate posts will be deleted.
  13. Forum rules and guidelines are not up for debate. This is a private forum. Site Moderators operate this ship in how they perceive it best benefits the majority.
  14. No impostors allowed. Impersonators will not be tolerated. Report violations ASAP. Users attempting to impersonate someone else may be banned.
Allowing an individual to sign in with your account who has been suspended or banned will also result in instant suspension. Site logs are checked on a regular basis; if you sign in from the USA, then 10 minutes later from the UK, this is evidence of account sharing.
  15. Your IP address is logged when you use the message board. If your messages are deemed harmful, your account, E-mail and IP address can be banned from entering the site again.
  16. We reserve the right to edit or delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever.
  17. We reserve the right to remove your access to the forum or disable your posting ability for any or no reason whatsoever.
  18. Who runs this Site? Along with Admin & a few other Reform Movement employees, we also have a number of volunteer moderators that have been entrusted to conduct the daily operations of the site. These people sacrifice numerous personal hours keeping the site in order, helping members, and answering new member questions. These people have been entrusted with the key to the city and are authorized to do what they feel is in the best interest of the whole.
  19. Membership - All people are encouraged to enter the site and participate.
  20. Bandwidth Stealing - No continual linking to graphics or other objects on this site. We allow a wide leeway for links, but based on the cost, effort, and time invested on setting up and maintaining this site, however we will not tolerate any posts that hog bandwidth from this site. This includes avatars. If you are listed in search engines and have a quality board, our members will find you eventually.
  21. We value the privacy of our members. Because of this, any intentional abuse of their information on this site will be met with swift action. Just because they have chosen to provide information does not give anyone the right to abuse their kindness. Please be courteous and respectful.
  22. Pornographic images or any pictures that could be interpretted as pornographic or offensive in nature are strictly forbidden.

These rules are not all-inclusive and will be amended from time to time.

Thanks again for your understanding and if there is anything we can do to enhance your surfing enjoyment, don't hesitate to let us know.
