Every Reform Synagogue has a cheder, a part-time religion school, usually for children from 5-16 years. Our religion schools are a far cry from the cheder of a generation ago with modern curricula and trained teachers. Many Synagogues also offer pre-school kindergartens. The Reform Movement has an outstanding youth movement – RSY Netzer - in which informal Jewish education plays a central part. Educational opportunities are also provided through the Movement’s student department that attempts to retain contact with all of our young people at college and university. Every Reform Synagogue provides a wide range of learning opportunities for adults and information is readily available from your local community. Finally, the Leo Baeck College at the Sternberg Centre in North West London is one of this country’s foremost Jewish educational institutions. As well as providing Rabbinic and Jewish professional training, it offers a range of degree courses and a growing number of opportunities for part-time Jewish learning. All this should underline just how important talmud torah, the study of torah – lifelong Jewish learning – is.
