The Reform Movement was shocked and appalled to hear of the brutal stabbing of Reform member, Alan Senitt, in Washington DC yesterday.

senitt.alanAlan Senitt, a former Chair of the Union of Jewish Students, was the son of Karen and Jack. Karen Senitt works as the administrator of Edgware & District Reform Synagogue, where the family are members. Having worked for BICOM in London, Alan moved to Washington DC for a six month internship with a leading American politician.

He was killed whilst trying to prevent the rape of a young woman he was escorting to her home.

Rabbi Tony Bayfield, Head of The Movement for Reform Judaism, said: "I am utterly appalled. The snuffing out of any young life is more terrible than words can express. Murdering someone of such talent and decency is the very embodiment of evil. Alan was a highly talented and committed communal activist with a hugely promising career ahead of him. Our hearts go out to the Senitt family."
