As RSY-Netzer prepare for a busy summer, they can look forward to an even stronger 2008 since, from September this year, there will be a significant increase in the number of Movement Workers when the team grows from three to five. This is the largest team there has ever been running the Youth Movement which currently has around 800 members through the year. This week 120 Madrichim (leaders) begin planning Shemesh for 375 young people and next week 132 will leave for Israel Tour.

Four of the Movement workers will be working full-time and based in London, whilst Adam Langleben will be working part time and based in Leeds. Adam Langleben is a member of North Western Reform Synagogue and is a graduate of Shnat Netzer. He is about to start his second year at Leeds University. He will be supporting the Course Hadracha (leadership) and Reform communities’ youth provision in the northern region.

In London, Miriam McGrath and Rupert Villers will join current Mazkira Diane Freeman and Cat Green. Miriam McGrath has just finished a degree in French and English at Warwick University. She completed the Shnat Netzer programme in 2003. Rupert Villers has just returned from Shnat Netzer. He is a member of North Western Reform and has been very involved for many years in the community.

Cat Green is a member of New North London Synagogue and grew up in LJY-Netzer, the sister movement to RSY-Netzer. Cat is also a Bogeret of Shnat Netzer and joined the RSY-Netzer leadership team in February this year. Diane Freeman is a member of Glasgow Reform Synagogue and is a law graduate from Glasgow University. This will be her second year as Mazkira.

Ms. Freeman commented: “Our mission continues to be to strengthen the experience provided through RSY-Netzer to as many Reform young people as possible, and give those young people the opportunity to create meaningful Jewish lives and a more just world. The expansion in the Northern Region is crucial to this task – we are delighted to have Adam on board.”
