Three RSY-Netzer groups landed this morning in Israel and held their Opening Ceremony in Mishkenot Shaananim, overlooking the Old City of Jerusalem, where they were joined by UJIA Israel Experience representatives. The ceremony was run by Shnat Netzer (RSY-Netzer gap year) participants from the Southern Hemisphere.

Maoz Haviv, Executive Director of Netzer Olami, opened the ceremony and said: "Netzer Olami welcomes with appreciation the RSY-Netzer groups and all of the participants that were determined to come and explore and see Israel. You are with us as one people at this time."

All three groups sang the Shehecheyanu blessing together and shared a large festive challah.

Rabbi Tony Bayfield, Head of the Movement for Reform Judaism, who flew to Israel with RSY-Netzer in a gesture of solidarity and commitment, addressed the three groups together and said: "I am here with you in Israel for the first few days of your tour and I am responding to the example that you have set. There are circumstances in which Jews have to show solidarity and stand up for themselves and their right to be a free people in their own land."

The ceremony concluded by everyone together standing and singing the RSY-Netzer song.

Charlie Gluckman, Mazkir of RSY-Netzer comments: "We are really pleased to have three Israel Tours in Israel right now. We know they are having, and will have, a fantastic experience. We are also grateful to UJIA Israel Experience for their on-going support that has allowed us to make these Israel Tours happen this summer."
