TaMaR, the grass roots Progressive Zionist movement that grew out of a Netzer conference last year, continues to grow from strength to strength and is now building on its links with Reform Judaism and Liberal Judaism.  The movement aims to become a formidable worldwide young adult Progressive Zionist movement and to capture the attention of Judaism’s so-called ‘lost generation’.

Rabbi Aaron Goldstein, Liberal Judaism’s Outreach Director, said, “TaMaR’s work is essential to support the development of local and international networks of young adults to enrich their lives and enliven their activities.  Whilst a Friday night service and dinner may currently attract twenty young Jews together, TaMaR can facilitate meetings across the globe.  It’s therefore no surprise that over 50 young adults are already booked in to TaMaR UK’s joint Chanukah Paris trip with EuroJews, and that over 150 are expected at the Chanukah Party on Sunday 17th December in Covent Garden”.

To achieve its goals, TaMaR is involved in a range of cross communal activities, including events with Liberal Judaism and Reform Judaism such as an all-night Shavuot event, a Pesach seder and “8 nights in 1” a Chanukah party featuring Los Desterrados, which is coming up on 17th December 2006.

As well as food, drink and live music from Los Desterrados, there will also be an ‘Auction of Promises’, in which people will have a chance to buy pledges such as a Shiatsu massage, a Little Britain gift bag, or use of an Arsenal season ticket.  All profits go to the Karen Morris Memorial Trust”.
