mnspanelA high-profile panel of experts spoke to a packed audience at Middlesex New Synagogue in Harrow about Israel's survival as a Jewish state on March 2. Jeremy Bowen, Middle East Editor of BBC News, told over 200 people:"Israel has to decide whether it wants to be Jewish and democratic, one or the other. A lot of Palestinians find the one-state solution increasingly attractive. If Israel wants to be Jewish and democratic, it has to be Jewish, democratic and smaller with a  Palestinian state next door. Getting there is another matter."

nwssconcertNorth West Surrey Synagogue hosted a superb evening of classical music and delicious food on March 3rd as nearly 200 members and friends attended a concert given by the exceptionally gifted students of the Yehudi Menuhin School in Cobham.

alythquestiontime150 members from Alyth (North Western Reform Synagogue) attended a special synagogue version of Question Time on Wednesday, 12th March to hear five very different views on the future of Israel. Organised as part of the synagogue's efforts to celebrate Israel's 60th birthday, panellists and members of the community were invited to speculate on what might be the challenges and achievements of the Jewish state in the next 6 decades.

Leon Greenman OBE, 1910 - 2008 Print E-mail

leongreenmanThe Movement for Reform Judaism mourns the loss of Leon Greenman, the only British survivor of Auschwitz who died recently at the age of 97. He spoke of his experiences to upwards of one million young men and women, both through the work of the Jewish Museum and in the wider world. We certainly will not see his like again!

logo_lbc_basic Celebrating Israel’s achievements was the theme of the Leo Baeck College Education conference on Sunday 17 February. Participants left on a high note after dancing and singing in an uplifting concluding session.
