millis.josephThe Reform Movement is pleased to introduce Joseph Millis who has been appointed editor of a new e-newsletter about all aspects of Israeli life which is due to be launched later this year.

South-East London-born Joseph Millis, 48, moved to Israel with his parents at the age of 12. After school, three years’ military service and university studies (Middle East History at Tel Aviv University), Joe returned to the UK in 1986.

In June 1987, he was employed by The Jewish Chronicle as a subeditor on the world news desk. He stayed at the JC until October 2006, serving as deputy World News Editor, World News Editor (twice), its Jerusalem-based Chief Israel correspondent (1999-2000) and founder-editor of its award-winning website, thejc.com.

A member of Bromley Synagogue and a keen cyclist, Joe is married to Rosanne, a teacher, and they have two sons – Ben, 9, and Toby, 6.

For his sins, Joe has been condemned to be a Spurs fan!

The Israel e-newsletter is a new benefit for members of Reform synagogues. It will provide our members with a balanced view of current and ongoing issues regarding Israel, both within and beyond the political context. The newsletter will provide regular information about how individuals, families, groups, communities and institutions in the UK can connect and engage with individuals, families, groups, communities and institutions in Israel with a similar outlook. The aim is to create a gesher chai, a living bridge between our members and the progressive movement in Israel as well as being a platform to promote all the Israel-based activities which are happening in our communities.

Joseph said: "I am delighted to have this exciting opportunity. I am looking forward to making the Israel newsletter a must-read for all Reform members!"
