3faithsforumThe Three Faiths Forum are currently involved in a number of initiatives including extending the 'Tools 4Trialogue' programme to Israel, the International Council of Christians and Jews (ICCJ) Conference in Jerusalem this June,  the Global Day for Darfur later this month and an event on training for trialogue in Manchester.

The Three Faiths Forum extends its wings to Israel  as a new initiative of 'Three Faiths Forum Israel' prepares for its formal launch in June. Their successful youth project, Tools 4 Trialogue, is now on offer to Israeli groups of Jews, Christians and Muslims.

Tools 4 Trialogue, which, in the UK, has attracted government grants, is based on a more academic type of religious dialogue known as Scriptural Reasoning. The methods and aims are designed to encourage participants to explore their own religious identity through contrasting them with those of others in a respectful and inquisitive environment. Tools 4 Trialogue was adapted for young people over the last two years to allow people from different backgrounds to engage in text study together. Schools, youth groups and universities welcome the programme as a model of interfaith dialogue that does not mean relinquishing one’s own beliefs – it serves to strengthen identity by exploring that of the other. Participants of each faith come out of a Tools 4 Trialogue session more in touch with their own religious identity and with that, a deeper knowledge of the faith of their peers.

Tools 4 Trialogue sessions will be conducted in Hebrew and Arabic and initially will target age groups of 14 – 24 years.  A youth project is underway for Christians and Muslims from Abu Tor, and Jewish youth from Talpiot, both in Jerusalem for joint sessions followed by an overnight trip. Tools 4 Trialogue will also serve a group of Muslim and Jewish students of social work who will use the project to enhance their understanding of issues of social welfare through the lens of religious texts. Three Faiths Forum Israel is already working with the Jerusalem Inter Cultural Centre, Trust EMUN and the Interfaith Encounter Association. Please contact Miriam Feldmann Kaye, or click here for more information.

The Forum will also be running an event in Manchester on 'Training for Trialogue'. The free three-session course on Monday 28th April, Thursday 1st May and Monday 5th May will give young people the opportunity to explore interfaith issues and learn how to run their own interfaith workshops. The workshops are scheduled to take place from 6.00pm to 7.30pm at Luther King House, Brighton Grove (off Wilmslow Road), Manchester. Contact the Forum by email if you would like more information or call 020 7485 1390. You can also check out their young people's website here.

The 2008 International Council of Christians and Jews (ICCJ) Conference will take place in Jerusalem from June 22nd to 26th. The focus will be on the contribution of Jewish-Christian-Muslim dialogue to peace building in the Middle East. Click here for more information.

Finally, the Three Faith's Forum is a supporter of the Global Day for Darfur on Sunday 13th April.
