Lord Mayor of Manchester hosts Jewish communities

The Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Paul Andrews, warmly invited leaders of Menorah Reform Synagogue and the Orthodox Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation to a special City Council meeting.

Rabbi Warren Elf – who coordinates the faith network for Manchester – had the honour of standing before the assembly and leading the prayers as the session began.

The meeting was not just about council business, but a celebration of community and connection. After the formalities, the guests were treated to lunch, where conversations flowed freely. It was a positive opportunity for everyone to catch up with various Councillors, share stories and strengthen bonds.

Laura Cohen, Chair of Menorah Synagogue, said: “We really appreciated this invitation. It was a pleasure to meet the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress as well as catch up with a number of Councillors who we have worked with previously, along with Rabbi Warren Elf and those representing Heaton Park Synagogue.”

The day ended with a renewed sense of togetherness, a testament to the power of community and the importance of coming together in both times of difficulty and celebration.
