Many of our communities now offer a range of Shabbat services reflecting the different needs and tastes of members. Some may prefer a family focussed service, others a traditional singing service, whilst others take the opportunity to learn more about the prayers and text of the liturgy.

West London's Morning Minyan takes place once a month. A member of the community shares what makes it so special.

The brainchild of WLS regulars who sought a more intimate and inclusive Shabbat experience, the Morning Minyan uses the new Reform Siddur and is at the same time both more traditional and more progressive than the main service.

Traditional with singing of niggunim (wordless melodies) and the Shabbat morning liturgy to lively Hassidic style tunes and progressive in the use of egalitarian language and a flexible structure where everyone's input is appreciated and nothing is set in stone.

Rather than a sermon we engage in Torah study and often lively discussion linking the week's Parsha to recent world events. Sometimes too lively; we often have to cut the debate short to finish in time for Kiddush!

Do feel free to give it a try and participate in the formation of a community within a community.
