Shirei Chagigah is absolutely about singing, about being together, creating community and learning new melodies but that’s not all. Shirei Chagigah is an opportunity to relax, enjoy, be spiritually uplifted, learn how to compose, study the history and development of music in our services and further develop as the service leader or choir leader you’ve always wanted to be. For a flavour of the huge variety of sessions take a look at the programme from 2015 here and for the full experience and to be the first to know ALL the faculty take a look at our video launching 2017!
We are delighted to be joined by four fantastically talented musicians and educators as well as our very own Cantor Zöe Jacobs. Zöe fell in love with Judaism and Jewish music while sitting in concentric circles both on the floor of FRS and at RSY-Netzer Shemesh. Zöe was ordained in 2009 from Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion, having studied in Jerusalem and New York and she is now the Cantor at FRS.
After a superb reception at Shirei Chagigah in 2015 and at Limmud and RSY-Netzer winter events this year we are excited to announce Noah Aronson will be returning to join us. Find out more about Noah here and here. Noah held the position of Composer-in-Residence at Temple Beth Elohim where he produced 4 albums of Jewish communal music along with his mentor. As a solo musician he has released two full length albums and songbooks.
We are so lucky this year to be joined by a fantastic multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, and recording artist; Elana Arian. Elana has served on the faculty of Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in New York teaching at the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music and playing in the world-renowned house band at Central Synagogue for the past 8 years. Find out more about Elana here
Elana Arian and Noah Aronson wrote and performed this wonderful version of Ahavah Rabbah (amongst other great music they have written together) and we are so excited to be able to learn from both of them at Shirei Chagigah this year. Listen here for your earworm of the day!
Early bird bookings are available until 31 April.
Please note that unfortunately due to the number, variety and complexity and mutual incompatibility of various food intolerances and medical diet restrictions of attendees we are no longer able to cater separately for these. To discuss your requirements please call Sarita on 07415 274362
Reform Judaism strongly believe that no-one should be prevented from joining an event because of finances. For a confidential discussion (and no paperwork) please call Sarita on 07415 274362 or email@example.com
