I began last fortnight’s piece by talking about the immensely positive experience I had in giving a talk at the Lambeth Conference in Canterbury.
Two days after the talk, I took part in the march that Archbishop Williams had spearheaded in support of the Millennium Goals. Proudly wearing the gown that indicated my Lambeth Doctorate of Divinity, I walked near the head of a procession which included many hundreds of Bishops from all parts of the world and a goodly handful of other faith leaders.

Rabbi Dr. Jonathan Romain, Chairman of the Assembly of Rabbis and Rabbi of Maidenhead Synagogue is a respected writer and broadcaster, frequently asked to comment on news issues on radio and television. In this fortnightly feature he addresses your concerns, giving responses to modern issues and queries. This week's question: I have been alarmed at the recent news about compulsory taking of organs from those who have died. Will this still be the case for Jews who wish to be buried whole ?

I have just enjoyed one of the most exciting and rewarding weeks of my rabbinic career.
It began with an invitation to Canterbury to co-lead a session on Jewish-Christian relations as part of the Lambeth Conference.

I know you are not supposed to use a name that is the same as a living relative, so would that rule out having the same name as me ?

This week's question: I would like to know where the culture comes from regarding the Jewish appearance (such as clothes and hair style).
