Jonathan Lewis
JONATHAN LEWIS grew up at Southgate and District Reform Synagogue. In 1999, his work took him to Leeds where he joined Sinai Synagogue with his family.
He currently holds the Young Adults and Students portfolio and is working hard to build on the success of Jeneration to create a fully integrated Reform young adults programme for all stakeholders. He has also represented the Movement at WUPJ and EUPJ events and is currently the Movement’s Vice-President on the EUPJ Executive.
Jonathan is coming to the end of his term as a Sinai Board Member, having served as Treasurer, Vice-chair and Chair. He is also a warden and acts as a supply teacher at the religion school. His most recent role on the Sinai Board was to hold the External Bodies portfolio including Sinai’s relationships with the Movement, WUPJ, Board of Deputies and the Leeds Jewish Representative Council. A past Chair of the Movement's Northern Network, he is also involved on the Northern youth advisory group, Chetzfoni.
Professionally, he is a Senior Client Relationship Manager with a software company specialising in self service financial applications. He is married to Gwynneth who is a teacher and Education Coordinator at Sinai and is currently studying for her MA in Jewish education at Leo Baeck College. They have a daughter and two sons. Jenny is a trainee chef having recently graduated from Aberystwyth University, Richard a former Netzer Shnatti studying archaeology at UCL, and Michael, who is a student at Harrogate Grammar School and a keen RSY-Netzer member.
