Wednesday 28 March was a very special day for me and for all of us at the Social Centre. It marked the official opening of the Josef Hausmann Library under the guidance of David Jacobs. I was privileged to cut the ribbon and to declare the library open. The Rabbi then recited a prayer and gave a very appropriate reading of the beauty that can emerge from a damaged jewel.

I waited a long time to reach this point of completion, and I am very grateful to David Jacobs and everyone connected with the event. I have placed many interesting and lasting books in the cabinet and I hope many people will derive value from them. I am happy to leave behind this room as a fitting memorial to my father and mother and all the Hausmann family.
