Here are the comments of some of those who went to Israel with the Reform Movement in May and photos of the amazing trip...

This was a magical journey. For the record, I find that experiencing the multiple Jewish narratives with Julian and Jeremy cause me to delve deeper each time, to research further when I get home. Each time I learn more and the urge to write about my personal experience of current affairs, through the lens of historical perspectives, increases my knowledge of the Jewish continuum. These journeys are a must for anyone interested in Judaism, Jewish history, Israel, the Diaspora and personal identity, to name but a few! I feel we are so fortunate to have Jeremy and Julian as our erudite guides, not to mention the humour: we also laugh a lot. |

Shecoyach! Another unforgetable journey in such amiable company, where we have learnt to expect the unexpected. We gained access to sites and speakers no other tour would have encompassed, and even when we visited the well-trodden main sites, the presentations you made and the questions you posed took us to a deeper level of connection with ‘our story’ as Progressive Jews. My fifth visit to Israel but far the most enlightening and emotional. I look forward to joining you both for another smorgasboard of culture and education next year

Usually I only have to be away from home for a day or so and I'm ‘home-sick’ and counting the days. Not so this time, in fact now I find myself in the UK feeling home sick for Israel. I know you and Jeremy joke about being paid to enjoy yourselves but you both worked very hard to make the trip work and probably had to count to 10 more than once when the group ignored your pleas to "hurry onto the coach". Thanks loads and loads for helping me get back in tune with a country I love so much. |

You took us from the Lebanese border in the north to the Dead Sea in the south and to many points in between. More than this, you set those sites in a historical perspective, engaged us in dialogue with speakers from across the spectrum of life in Israel today and gave us a context in which to examine our own personal relationship with Israel. It was a unique and unforgettable experience and sets this trip apart from many others we have made to Israel. We look forward to the next Jewish Journey! |

I was there for the very first time and, one week back in UK, just as Jeremy predicted, the journey is still going on. Of course I remember the pleasure and excitement of discovery - digging at Tel Marisha, studying all night in Jerusalem at Shavuot, the incredible beauty of Lake Kinneret and the dreams of the early pioneers, seeing my first camel up close in the desert and seeing dawn over the Dead Sea, the commitment and courage of the border settlers in the North, the rich ambiguity of Jerusalem...but also the sense that I was being offered - what a gift - a real time map of this vivid, beautiful, difficult and complex small country, past present and future and a country that is - incredibly - also mine. Jeremy and Julian, you put me in the landscape. The drama of hearing the words of Yehua Amichai and Daniel Gordis at the two Walls! I was told that this trip would change my life and it has: the sense of connection with Israel is quite permanent. |
