This is the professional body to which all Reform rabbis in the UK belong. The Assembly discusses matters of a religious nature and helps create ritual policy for the Movement for Reform Judaism. Such policies are discussed and decided upon collectively, as there is no central authority vested in a single person, such as a chief rabbi, within the Movement for Reform Judaism. It also provides a means of collegial professional support and debate for the movement’s rabbis. Prior to 2008, this body was called the Assembly of Rabbis.
